Recently I saw an advertisment for a "new" 1911 extractor in a handgun magazine but have forgotton the issue and the manufactor of this extractor. If anyone knows the issue of American Handgunner mag or the manufactor ot this 1911 internal extractor which has 2 springs about midway down the length to hold tension would you please tell me! Thanks very much!

It's a Para

Sounds to me like you're talking about para ordinance's "new" power extractor. It uses springs where you described along with a larger gripping surface on the casing for more positive traction and ejection. It's actually very reliable. I own an LTC model with that very extractor and it is very consistant. That other company may sell a two piece spring extractor, but if I were you I would trust para. Good Luck!

Hey Lucas Groom, are you saying the new Power Para extractor will fit into the normal size extractor hole in the slide of any 1911 pistol?? I though the head of the new Para Power extractor was too big to fit into the slide!!!
