I understand external extractors is standard equipment on '03 Kimbers...is this true? If not, which models will have it & which will not?

They're all being shipped with them now. If you want an internal, you'll need to find one on a shelf or look at used guns.

I'm slightly sad over this... but I think its a great move for Kimber. Anything they can do to make their guns more reliable to the average Joe is good, I get sick of hearing how "unreliable" 1911s are. And lets face it, Kimbers have never been traditional.

If they would have simply tuned the old ones before shipping there would have been no problems.

After 7 years I gave up hope of this ever happening
I will admit that thought I've seen new Kimbers with zero extractor tension, I've yet to see one fail to feed or extract because of it.
