Just placed my order for the SR1911 Commander!

It was a hard decision between the Ruger and the Colt Combat Commander. I think in the long run the Ruger just had more features that I liked. I didn’t get much response on here about my comparison between the two but I did on another forum and that helped me make my decision. I went for the all steel version instead of the lightweight. The only thing I regret is it’s stainless and not blued like the Colt. But I’m happy with my choice. I ordered it from Palmetto State Armory since I have a local one. I can’t wait to get it.

You'll love it. I recently picked up an SR1911 full size. Runs great.

When I decided to add a 9MM 1911 to my modest collection, I decided on a Ruger LW Commander. It is one of the most accurate, and reliable, 9MM pistols I own; more accurate than my Ed Brown costing twice as much. The only pistol I have that is more accurate than the Ruger is my P210 Target.

I did have to tweak the rear sight a little to get the POI and POA to line up. I also replaced the 10# OEM recoil spring with a 15# spring. But these are to make the pistol and me more "compatible".

You made a good decision, I think? I have a few handguns but my Winter carry is my SR1911 CMD in .45acp.

My CMD, purchased last year, has continued to be flawless!
Painted the front dot orange, changed the grips.
Shoot, clean, repeat.

I bought my CMD in November 2013, current round count is 13,250. Outside of changing springs at 7000 rounds it’s been flawless. I didn’t change springs because of any issues, just preventative maintenance.

I don't think you will regret getting the stainless steel, it will grow on you.

I like the SS I just think I’d like blued more. But to satisfy my urge for a black 1911 I’m ordering a Tisas Carry B45 which is basically an enhanced Commander 1911. I’m gonna put some buffalo bone double diamond grips on it.

Man I hate the wait on items order online. Now I have two that I am waiting on.
I've always kinda' enjoyed the anticipation when I have something on order. The longest I've waited was for my P210 Target; 11 months. When I have something on order I research everything I can find on that gun; maintenance, reloads, holsters, reviews, etc. Helps to keep me from getting interested in anything else.
Waited 7 months for my Springfield SA-35. There were 30 guys ahead of me and they all dropped out. Most now regret taking themselves off the wait list.
Yeah, I don't mind waiting.

My SR1911 has been flawless and Ruger has great C.S.

Did you get the Ruger yet?

I actually canceled the order on the Ruger. I just just didn’t like the the stainless steel. I like black or blued guns. If you read my first post you’ll see I was hesitant to buy it because of that. No matter how much I tried I couldn’t get passed that feeling that it just wasn’t for me. If they were blued I’d probably own two of them.

Ruger does have both the lightweight and regular commander SR1911s in black. They are called the "Nightwatchman". The lightweight commander comes with night sights. I really like mine.

Man I wish I’d have know that! I didn’t see it listed on their website.
