was reading the new web sight and it says the gold match comes with a steel barrel. i thought the old sight said staimles steel barrel. did it change or did i just imagine that?

I'm sure it is a typo. To my knowledge all of Kimber's bbls are SS.

When in doubt give them a call.

well

i know the 4 and 3 inch are not..they have rusting issues...just trying to verify the 5 inch

Yes, they are SS. The rust has more to do with the blend of SS and the amount of carbon steel in it. SS does indeed rust.

Then I stand corrected.

I am a little surprised, most all other companies are using SS.

If you have the energy, time and good fortune seek out an original series, Model #'s 3000006 & 3000009, they were spec'd with 5" stainless barrels in .45 ACP (and other cals, other part #s). So were the early Polymer :mummy: Gold Match, Gold Combat and Super Match models.

Rust

It may surprise some but, stainless steel can rust. Typically not as fast or as bad as plain carbon steel. It depends on the grade of stainless, there are many grades.
