I have a new Kimber Custom II that seems to be attracting a bit of our dreaded little brown friend - rust!!!
Now, I am a meticulous gun owner...clean, clean and clean. I then thoroughly oil the weapon and then wipe down the exterior with a silicone impregnated cloth EVERYTIME I even think about touching it.
However, I just noticed rust on the right-hand side of the slide-stop - the little button that pokes through. Its as if the gun is black and that piece is brown.
Any tips on how to throuhly remove the rust without damaging the finish and then how to prevent this in the future? Why can't gun-makers "rust-proof" these higher dollar weapons?
Any thoughts/observations appreciated.
