I have a kimber stainless II with external extractor. Are the kimber frame interchangeable with other manufacturers slides?? I'm looking go back to the internal extractor without sending my EDC back to kimber for 4 weeks.

In theory, most any 1911 slide should fit most any frame. It would have if we were talking WWI or WWII era guns, but modern guns are tight. You won't know unless you actually try it.

I would expect minor fitting would be needed.

Yeah I figured it would require fitting but with the odd ball safety I wasn't sure if the frame might be different also.

Should be. Reportedly Kimber's warranty solution for external extractor guns they can't fix is a new slide. But I imagine they do some fitting too.
