I picked up my NIB Customer SS Series I two weeks ago, and I saw a Custom SS Series I in .40 S&W. I have read on this forum and others where people really seem to like this caliber in a 1911 platform.

I myself am not overly found of this caliber, but I was wondering how expensive it would be to have it converted to a 10mm, and once converted, if I would be able to simply change back when I choose. You can buy .40 in WW White Box now, and this combination may just give me the rationalization for yet another Kimber.

If you want to change from .40 to 10mm and back to .40, all you need is another barrel fitted. I have a Caspian based 10mm/.40. Complete with two fitted barrels. All I do is change barrel and recoil spring when I want to from one to the other.

You can go to 10mm with a chamber reamer, but you will not be able to go back to .40.
