This is very sad for all involved, but I am glad to see him remembered for the way he lived instead of how he died. A great loss.

That is a shame. He seemed like a good all-around guy. Nobody in California, bad guy or citizen, ir worth dying for. SWAT should have hosed that entire house from the outside with automatic fire to end that situation.
