Does anyone have any info on laser engraving the 1911?

I saw some stuff online that says you can engrave wood, metal etc with a CO2 laser, a computer, and the right software.

I am wondering if I could laser the Parkerized slide of the Springfield Mil-Spec with a custom design.

Anyone have any idea if this works? Know anyone I can talk to about this?

You would be better off to chemical etch.

Do you have access to a powerful laser?
Or do you plan to hire it done?
S&W does laser "engraving" of their guns for a very modest sum.

I saw S&W laser engraving a few days ago. Very nice but doesn't look like real engraving. Looks like nice laser engraving.
