LENGTH OF COMMANDER BUSHING

1918 Views 7 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Grubbslinger
The barrel bushing on my commander style 1911 is getting battered pretty bad at the lug area. I think mine is too long. Could somebody please give me the proper over all length?

Thanks

Sounds like your bushing might indeed be too long. If you can give me a call in the shop tomorrow I'll give you a measurement, or I'll try to remember to measure it and repost tomorrow night.
Oop-- there ya go. The answer was not quite there yet when I posted.
The bushing 'skirt', the .703" diameter should not exceed .440" in length.
Also the barrel must be turned to .570" -.580" to within .020" of the forward locking lug.
The rear of the bushing skirt must never make contact with the barrel lug area.
Hope this helps,
Chuck
Chuck,
Thanks for distinguishing the skirt measurement...I included the .094"flange width in the .525-.530" measurement

Hi Chuck
We make our bushings using .420. Had a couple come back that were just touching and moved the number for safety sake.

for the record I had a gun come in one time, the guy put a govt bushing in a commander, the front of the slide broke out where the lug was on the bushing, not a happy day.

Thanks again.
