When I came on in 1968 You supplied your own weapon and they gave you 1 box of 38spl LRN You could carry just about any Colt or Smith & Wesson 4" or better revolver even Magnums and Magnum ammo if you wanted Then in the 70's they issued Model 15's and after that you had to carry issued ammo starting with the +P 38spl 158gr LSWCHP FBI load then the Federal 110gr+P+ JHPTreasury Load. When I retired in 1986 they were just transitioning to the Sig 9mm.
I was Also an M.P. during the LA Olympics and the Rodney King Riots

Wow! pretty impressive lists for duty guns. Mine is:

G22
SIG P225
SIG P229

Sort of a short list but not bad if you consider that the G22 is the only gun my department authorizes for duty use. :biglaugh:

The two SIG's were both while working civil shifts in plainclothes. And I've had to draw down on people with each of them on separate occassions (civil work isn't "civil") :biglaugh:. Does plainclothes count?
