Lightweight XS Commanders are on gunsamerica.com right now. Quite pricey ($849), but they're the real deal. They come from Valley Fire Arms at 203-924-5650.

I saw one today at FLD, priced in that range. I thought it was the best looking Colt I had seen in a good while. The sights are kind of dinky, if I bought it they would be replaced with tritium anyway. Some may be offended by the nylon mainspring housing (I am not, I have one on a more expensive gun than that to save weight.) The only part I really did not like was the cheap looking drop in grip safety with a gap between the beavertail and frame you could drag a cat through by the tail. They could do better there.
As said, a nice looking gun. It did kind of lack in comparison with the 98% 1950 GM next to it, though. Or the AFPG military match FLD pulled out from under the counter to show me. Yum.
I currently own an XSE Commander, which is what I suspect you're talking about with the crummy grip safety. It is one of the nicest looking Colts I have ever seen, and possibly the best carry gun ever. Have only put about 150 rds though mine so far and it has been totally reliable, which is the bottom line for a carry gun.
col132's right. I think it's the LtWt XSE. Just got mine a couple of weeks back. Had some problems in the beginning getting used to the recoil but after the first 400 rounds, it's super smooth. Loooooooove it. Toatlly reliable. Great carry piece. Sigh.......... I think I'm in love

The XS models advertised were actually XSE's.

Arrrrrrrr . . . .

The gunshop made an honest mistake based on bad info from their distributor. They were very apologetic and they gave me a good price on an XSE, which I bought.

Planning on a trigger job and a few mods now. Then onco a concealment rig and I'm done!

Any thoughts on your favorite night sights (or regular hi-viz? )

All advice appeciated. Check out the XSE string on the gunsmithing forum here. Those guys are great, as are y'all.

Thanks!
