i own a kimber target elite 2, and i just purchased an aimtech mount for it. i need to remove the main spring housing retainer pin. 1st i can't find the dam thing 2nd once i find it how do i get it out. ne suggetions would be helpful
Ok, put on your safety glasses. Make sure your gun is unloaded. Check and make sure your gun is unloaded again!
Make sure the hammer is NOT cocked. With a 1/8" punch, gently tap the pin out from the hollow (dished) side of the pin. Once the pin is out, you should be able to slide the mainspring housing out of the frame. If it is tight coming out, cock the hammer. The hammer strut will push down on the mainspring, allowing the housing to slide free.
If you can't find the retainer pin, your grips on the gun might cover it up. So remove the grips from the gun and try it again. I bought a pair of rosewood grips from Kimber, and it doesn't have a cut around the mainspring housing retainer pin. good luck.
