And Dad apparently never watched Combat when he was a kid, or any old war movies... even my daughters knew in kindergarten, you pull the pin and then throw the damn thing.

Hollywood tells people that a hand grenade won't explode until it's in close proximity to the bad guys. It also tells people that a grenade will cause a massive orange fireball explosion. Most ordinary people have no idea how they actually work and what it looks like when one goes off.

I had one end of the street blocked and a buddy had the other end blocked while we were waiting on the bomb squad.
