A friend just bought a .45 Light Weight Colt Commander, SN CLW042550. Does anyone know when this pistol was made? I know they were made from the end of 1969 to 1983. What is a ballpark figure of what it is worth in 85% condition, some dings but mostly just handling wear. I figure (haven't seen it yet) around $600-$700. Bore is excellent. Sorry I don't have a photo. Thanks, Bob

Call 1-800-962-Colt (Customer Service), wait five minutes on hold, and ask the person. They can/will tell you the year of manufacture. I think they take customer calls for a couple of hours in the morning and afternoon. Nice folks.

About 1979-80 or so acording to "Colt An American Legend" by Wilson. Prices will vary with condition and your area.

Agree with the other guys. I would at least ask what month within the year when you call Colt. Probably will not get it, but worth a try. With the information provided I would slop from $500-$800.
