What is everyone's feeling on the 8 round Mccormick magazines?

I'm working on a project and might be gearing up for competition in this caliber.

Since I'm already geared up for my .38 Super, I don't want to drop the cash on a handful of Wilson mags when I might stick with the .38 Super in the long run.

I have one 8 round PowerMag. When I was home last, I shot about 200 rounds through it and two Wilson mags that I have with no feed failures on any of the three, if that helps.

I've used eight different SS mags in my Colt, including a new Powermag. The spring went soft on one of the older ones, causing a few misfeeds, but other than that one isolated incident, I've had thousands of trouble-free feeds, mag drops and slide locks. For $10-$12 each, they can't be beat - if they work in your gun!

My pistols seem to like McCormick magazines so I like them. One of my pistols will not feed anything from Wilson magazines but the same magazines work just fine in a buddy's pistol. Go figure.

I just took delivery of a Gunsite GSP2000 that came with 3 CMC 8rd. Powermags, however, I had a Wilson first and use Wilson #47Ds exclusively. If anyone wants these 3 Powermags I will gladly trade them for 2 Wilson 47Ds in like condition. The Powermags are new and only one has been inserted at the dealership where I bought it. To be honest, there are some things about the PMs that I like BETTER than the Wilsons, but I want all one type of mag only. I guess thats the way I am

Thanks
John

Thanks guys.

I'm not too hung up over having 8 rounds instead of 7, and many times in competition I remove the 10th round out of my Wilson .38 Super mags if I don't think I HAVE to have it, simply because it's easier to insert a mag with 9 rounds in it.

I may try the standard shooting stars since I don't want to drop a bunch of money on something that I may not use anywhere but the range.

It's spelled Pachmayr, and I never remember how it's spelled unless I check.

Pachmayr is still around, but sort of forgotten to some degree, as I never hear about it anymore. I figure they quit giving free stuff to the gun salesmen/writers, so those scum stopped mentioning Pachmayr in the gun rags.

The several different suppliers of high quality parts out there these days doesn't help their cause either. Hogue grips probably also put a dent in their business.

Pachmayr is still alive and still carries what appears to be their full product line. Check the address below:

GYP_C, it took about 1 week to get them to me. They were actually very inexpensive. I just talked to my gunsmith last night and he said that they are every bit as good as the Wilsons. They run $9.99/mag for the 8 round blued.

Cool...yeah after I heard that thread, I ordered some too...some blue, some stainless, some SA, some 10's, some grips, some more grips, and a couple toy cleanin' kits...almost poetic...just wanted to know when to expect delivery...Went wild this week and spent half my GUNSITE tuition...have to start over tomorrow...still have a couple contracts to work on and the weather is too good to mention..
