Attached is an imagge of a SW1911 thumb safety which failed. Snapped right of. Note the large air bubble in the middle of the part. I had to use a cut off wheel to get the remnants out of the frame. Replaced with an Ed Brown ambi tactical. Greg
MIM part failure

I can understand your use of the Ed Brown part rather than returning the pistol to S&W for installation of another MIM part, but did you at least send the broken safety back to S&W so they could inspect it and address the issue with their production and quality control people? If there's a problem with their molding process they need to know about it. Making them aware of a problem that they can fix may save someone else's life someday.
The customers gun whas a few years old. I may send the part to Smith. They do not make this part. Greg
