Minor Adjustment

929 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  shane45-1911
The thumb safety on my new Kimber Pro Carry has scratched the finish off the frame underneath it. When the safety is engaged you can see the shiny aluminum frame. I know this does not affect the gun, but for aesthetic reasons I was wondering if the safety can be adjusted/smoothed around the corners so it will not continue to scratch the frame. BTW, this did not happen on my Kimber Custom.

Use some 600 grit emery paper on the backside of the safety, and slightly round off any of the sharp edges. If you feel brave, use a Dremel with a felt bob and some jewellers' rouger or Flitz metal polish. This should prevent a lot of the future wear to the frame beneath the safety.
