I saw another article this morning, on how copper's going up, so this isn't entirely surprising.

Winchester Announces 2021 Price Increases on Ammunition and Reloading Supplies
March 23, 2021
Winchester Ammunition v

March 22nd, 2021 Winchester ammunition announced an increase in all ammunition prices effective May 1st. The letter from Winchester is below but amounts to a fairly large increase in the cost of ammunition.

March 22, 2021

To All Winchester Ammunition Customers:

Thank you for your commitment to Winchester and Browning Ammunition in support of our legendary products.

Due to the increased cost inputs for manufacturing ammunition, it is necessary to increase ammunition prices for all shipments, including backorders, beginning May 1, 2021.

Ammunition will be subject to the following price increases.

Shotshells + 5%-12%
22 Magnum Rimfire ammunition + 5%-15%
Hunting Rifle ammunition + 5%-15%
All Centerfire Pistol ammunition +8%
Components +10%
Primers +25% (Due to our current backorder situation, until further notice, Winchester is not accepting new orders on primers)

These May 1, 2021 increases will affect all pack sizes, sub-brands, and special make-ups.

All existing orders and future orders shipped on or after May 1, 2021, will be shipped at the new prices unless you notify us requesting cancellation. Procedures for repricing back and future orders will be issued with new pricelists and programs in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,

Matt Campbell

Well, well....looks like all the copper necessary for the Lithium Ion batteries in electric cars will go up too.
So will the copper in solar panel usage. A single wind farm can have as much as 10 million pounds of copper.
At what point does this useless charade end?? ROI is still a thing right?
Bernie is bitching about the cost of housing, how about the cost of utilities when we go green?

Wondering......are these price increases based off of pre-COVID-19 prices or current Covid-19 panic buying prices?

Off of last years list price.

Just because someone is selling primers for stupid amounts on Gunbroker doesn't mean that the primer maker sold them for stupid amounts.

ROI? Return on Investment? When has any government entity been competent enough to concern itself with the return on it's investment. As long as solar panel farms are subsidized by government grants (our tax dollars) the utility company won't give a fig what it's going to cost to implement or maintain. It's not their money being invested. And as long as the rare materials required to manufacture solar panels are mined and processed in China where the tree hugging ninnies can't see the environmental destruction or be suffocated by the manufacturing waste, they'll never care enough about the real environmental impact enough to protest their use. They'll continue to push for it in the name of virtue signaling, so they feel better about 'doing something green' (for us) while never realizing the real costs of implementing it beyond just the rise in local utility bills.

Hope you’re right. Just checked Midwayusa. Last year, this time, primers were $30-$32/1K. Until a couple of weeks ago, these same primers were in the $40-$45/1K range.Their current primer prices are running at $59.99/1K. They are still unavailable, haven’t been available for a year or so, but the price keeps going up. Either case, ammo and reloading is going to get more expensive.

I don't know when Winchester's old pricing was announced, but I do know that lead is about 10% higher than a year ago, and copper is up over 80% from this time last year.

All true. Funny how the asshats also don’t choose to acknowledge that 90% of the supposed “Global Warming” contributors (according to their criteria) are from everywhere besides the USA. So, we shut down the Keystone pipeline right? Now, the oil gets shipped over to tankers that go directly to China. It is promptly burned up in a super pollutant manner. You are right...out of sight, out of mind. It’s OK, they are only hurting their air and oceans. It’s OK as long as crap doesn’t wash up on the sunny shores of California.

Always! When the money is free, ROI is infinite.

There are 50 people in Washington DC that think they have the right
to spend ANOTHER two trillion dollars of the American citizen's money.

But there will be no inflation from that either.

Reckon it depends on what type of 'investment' we're referring to. I believe progressives are very keen on ROI - it's just that it's a different kind of ROI. For example, the left invested heavily in dumbing down our schools - decades worth of investment (billions upon billions upon billions). They've invested heavily in creating our culture of dependency (billions upon billions upon billions). The invested very heavily in destroying inner cities (billions upon billions upon billions). What's their ROI, you ask? A serf-class of voters who have given them complete control of Gov't. An ignorant populace who looked the other way when a presidential election was corrupted and stolen. Lemmings, who through an irrational fear of a virus, happily allowed more of our Constitution to be shredded. Hell, they're still investing...... what do you think those 'stimulus checks' are? In other words, they invested trillions over decades so that they would have eventual, total control. And, just like clockwork, they got it. Not bad really. If only we conservatives hadn't been so stupid and derelict our duty to protect the Republic......... Oh, well, decades late, trillions short! The left got its ROI, for sure!!!

You know, it's kinda painful how accurate that is.

Gee what a surprise! That just can not be, Jerome Powell the FED chief says that there is no inflation.
I think inflation is judged based off the “bread basket.” I’ll bet there are no primers, bullets or powders in the bread basket!
