Gunfinder has two up for auction. I emailed them and they replied back that they are real XS Lightweight Commanders. Price $770.00. What do ya think? Good deal?

Fine price for an XS. Reserve one and then verify that they are, indeed XS's.

My supplier picked-up 8 Colts that his distributor ID'd on computer as XS's. They came in as XSE's.

Let us know what you find.

If they are actual XS Lightweights they are a good deal. If they are XSE's they are still a fine weapon and probably worth the asking price.
Gunfinder said yes. They are the XS models. $770.00. They have seven of them. The XSE model is selling for $784.00. A dealer in Scottsdale Arizona has the XSE Combat commander for $669.00 and the XSE Lightweight for $699.00. Is the XS worth the difference? Thanks.
Oh, the Gun Center is Scottsdale also has the Defender for $579.00. These guys are great to work with. I will find their phone number and post. Bodine.

Do you want to spend $100 for some extra features is the big question. No one can answer that except for you.

I have followed these guys through the various stores they have owned over the years here in the Phoenix area. Quite honestly, these guys have the best deals in the State of Arizona. A few years back when the Colt Defender first came out, I got mine from them (they owned Machine Gun Kelly's then...) for $550.

They are definately "New York" transplants. Steve has got the accent and the attitude, but don't be put off by it. If these guys can get it, you will get the best price on it. I deal with them almost exclusively and they regularly advertise in the Phoenix Republic classifieds in the Guns/Knives section on weekends. I never see them at Gun Shows though...I guess they don't need to considering they have Gun Show prices 24/7.

They must have excellent contacts in the industry to get those prices. Plus, they always have the newest stuff first. They have S&W SC/Ti revolvers in .357 and you can't get them anywhere else. The same was with Kimber Eclipses. They get it first and at great prices.

I think the XS is worth the extra $100. I like the ambi safety and the beavertail.

Thanks for the heads-up, Jethro. You're a real double-naught spy !

I found the Commander Lightweight XS on the web and bought it. Also, I was able to cancel my order on the XSE, since I originally sent the cash with the understanding it was an XS.

I sure hope Gunfinders has actually eyeballed these guns to know they're not XSE's. My original provider, Valley Fire Arms in CT got taken on the XS scam. Rick there (203.294.5650) is a class act and I give him high marks for his honesty in this whole deal. Check with them when you're in the market.

Thanks again, Jethro.

Thanks Gun Nut for the info on the gun Center. I had to step out for a while. Yes, they ARE very much New York transplants. Steve told me some people don't know how to take him. I just listen and laugh. Oh, yes, to me it is worth a hundred dollars more for the XS. I priced the add ons from various smiths. Wow! What a savings getting an XS.
Heads up guys....E the B just gave me notice that the XS Lightweight Commanders for sale and auction at Gunfinder.net are actually XSE models.
I asked Cliff, at Gunfinder.net, over and over, emailed several times making sure the Commander is an XS. He said he was positive they were.
I knew when he said he had seven left something was fishy.
First thing in the morning Gunfinders.net gets a call.
I will keep you posted.
Gunfinders got taken by the same distributor that scammed Valley Firearms (see post above).

Neither of these retailers intended to decieve us - they just trusted their distributor and figured what they had on the shelf was a Lightweight Commander XS. Very likely, the distributor didn't know about the mistake - but they should have.

With so many sales going over the internet these days, firearms retailers need to be especially careful when they advertise hi-demand guns. There's no substitute for visual review when these situations arrise

As my Grandpa used to tell me, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Hey, anybody know where I can find a Lightweight Commander XS ??

Did they mention which distributor?

Back when the XSE's were first coming out we had a few mix-ups and now make sure to get more details if they just say "XS" but they should all be worked out by now.
