Now that I've had a chance to shoot it a bit, and have found it to be quite a slippery little sucker, I'm considering having the front strap of my BHP checkered. Problem is, that's where the serial # is located. Who would be able to locate the number elsewhere on the frame? What method is generally used for this (electro-etch, stamping, etc..)?
I'm having Cylinder and Slide do some other things to it and figured they could do the checkering while it's there. I think they require the SN to already be re-located before they do the checkering.
Chech with a veteran Hi Power smith like Jim Garthwaite. He does lots of front strap work and has probably moved some serial #'s in his day, http://www.garthwaite.com/
JoeMc, that would be my first choice. I just figured it would be a lot more complicated (i.e. EXPENSIVE!) to have to work around it like that. If you know of someone who could do it that'd be great.
I think the Conamyds will work great and it seems like they would be easier to apply around the SN. I think they would give some good traction and they look pretty cool too.
