I've wanted a 1911 with a double stack mag. So I picked up a Rock Ultra fs hc 16rd. to go with my 8rd pistol. She is a heavy girl yet the web page says they both weigh the same 2.5lbs. I don't have any scales right now but will weigh both and we will see. Anyhow here they are:

My 10mm rocks, too, I took Brutus to the range yesterday to fiddle around with it (it had been awhile). Brutus is a Pro Ultra 6" single stack (52008) 10mm. Of my eleven 1911s, it has the best trigger of the bunch. I was trying out some PPU 180gr, HP "Defense" loads, which turned out to be awfully mild-shooting loads, but quite accurate. So far, it has done well with every factory load I've shot in it. It's just a good -shooting pistol. I think it's a sleeper, it's a pig to pack around, but it sure shoots well.

That’s a Rock. Not a pig in a poke. Good name pick. “ Brutus “ I kind of like that.

I had to correct my original post, it's a 6" gun, NOT a 5" gun, that's why it's such a pig to tote around very far. I think I was in too much of a hurry when typing my first post. Sorry about that. Brutus is still Brutus, though, and shoots better than my old Delta Elite ever did, with much less fuss and aggravation. It was the first RIA I've ever owned, and paved the way for a .45 that is almost as good, and shoots better than my Custom Shop Colt 1991A1 Limited pistol.

I recently bought a pre-owned 5" barreled version of this exact pistol. I like it...a lot.
Took it apart for inspection. It already came with some idiot scratches where the previous owner at least tried to break it down. There is no excuse for that. Remove mag, lock the slide back. Insert wire in guide rod. Hold wire with o ring. Release slide and move slghtly to push the slide stop out. Easy and effortless.
Machine work is very good. Fit of parts is good. Nice beveled magwell which makes it real easy to swap in the extra magazine that it did not come with. Don't really need an extra mag in most cases due to the fact that if you can't get the job done with 16 ten millimeter rounds you have other issues to worry about. Or your widow does anyway.
Lubed it up and reassembled. Ran some American Eagle 180 grain through it. No issues. Kind of the low end of the power range for this round. Ran some Blazer Brass 180 through it. Accurate! Definetly hotter but realized these have small primer pockets whereas Starline brass has large. Here we go again.......

I'm not going to use this for EDC as the commander size 45's fill that role. Power of the 10mm makes using the FMJ's questionable. Takes a lot to stop them. I shot one completely through an old telephone pole I cut for fence posts. Actually, for self defense, the double stack is not really necessary unless MS-13 is coming down the hallway and then you can take out 2 or 3 with one shot if you have FMJ's loaded. In combat, last resort, double stack would be appreciated.
A coyote out for a free lunch is in more danger due to the longer usable range of the 10mm. Rifles are better but I do occasionally scare one up when walking the property.

Running my buddies steel plate range was a blast, ("What the hell are you shooting?") Weight tames the recoil somewhat. Recoil sensitive shooters may have issues with it unless low powered ammo is used. Then they may as well get a .40.
Hornady's 10th edition is showing data for 180 grain XTP's from 950 to 1250 fps. I'm going to work up to 1100-1150 fps and see where accuracy is. Should be a good combination.
All in all, a nice 1911. Slightly erratic with the ejection pattern but I'll see if that still needs addressed after several hundred rounds.
This one is a keeper. It may lead to a 10mm single stack though. Keep feeding the addiction......

I am fond of 10mm handguns. Two Colt Delta Elites, Ruger Super Redhawk, six-inch Springfield TRP Operator, five-inch Springfield TRP Operator, and a Glock G20 MOS.

I'll looked for a Rock Ultra 17rd pistol and could not find any locally so I went with a Staccato.

EDIT: Just noticed you're talking about 10 mm
It's getting late but I do own a Glock 20

I currently own two Rocks... a BBR 3.10 in .45, 10+1 capacity. I carry this one in the winter months and a Ultra FSHC in 10mm. Both pistols are 100% reliable and very accurate, The BBR really surprised me for a short barreled pistol and the recoil is very managable due to the porting. Last night I ordered an Ultra FS in 10mm to go with it's big brother, looking forward to another 1911 added to the stable, I'm a big .45 fan and starting to really get into 10mm. I reload so I can taper my loads to my liking. Just ordered 500 HST hollow points to work up a stout 10mm defense load. shooting these expensive rounds would not be possible without reloading, It is not uncommon for me to shoot 200-300 rounds in a session.

I am extremely happy with my Rock Island. It is extremely heavy with the current set up I have. I am guessing with a full magazine and my sure fire it’s 5lbs

Nice. It’s hard to beat a Rock. Enjoy
