Bill;

What is it about the "folks" that you don't trust them with so called assault rifles? The security of the nation and the second amendment isn't about duck hunting, it is about an armed population to protect America from all enemies foreign and domestic.

Your stand against my right to own a so called assault rifle means myself and many others will no longer support your show.

Ironic how you were just talking about boycotts :)

Tom E Gunn

Let them know what you think, he came out against assault rifles in your hands.

spread the word

I didn't see the show, but I just came from browsing a bit over at glocktalk and the guys there who saw it are saying OReilly was apparently under the impression that an "assault rifle" is a military full-auto and stubbornly refused to be told otherwise. Well, of course he's right ... what he doesn't understand is that the AWB redefined the words "assault rifle" to include a lot more.

When was this show? Who was the pro gun guest that tried to educate him and who was the anti gun guest? I usually watch his show and I missed this one.

Just saw it. It was some democratic strategist and Larry Pratt from GOA.

Send Bill an email here and tell him that you are disappointed in his ignorant position, point out that "assault weapons" are not automatic rifles or machineguns, and tell him that they are mechanically identical to other semiautomatic pistols and rifles ideal for self defense.

Email him at [email protected]

Bill Oreilly ignorantly derides assault weapons on his show tonight

Saying that "the American people dont need Bazookas and machineguns to defend themselves" Bill Oreilly either showed his ignorance or deliberately obfuscated the facts in the debate over assault weapons. Email him and let him know you are disappointed. Tell him that so called assault weapons are not machineguns or automatic rifles. Also let him know that they are only cosmetically scary but mechanically identical to other rifles and pistols ideal for self defense purposes which he claims to support.

Email him at [email protected] to express your disappointment.

I hope everyone realizes that what Orielly is doing is using his celebrity status to promote his AGENDA which is to take away your FAL or any other assault rifle you own.

Please be civil and let him know what you think.

Boycotting Journalists

Boycotting Journalists doesn't work....I will post a e-mail tommorrow but don't expect a change in his position.

A better tactic is eroding his credibility little by little at every opportunity, like he is trying with our 2nd Amendment rights.

I like about 85% of what he says. He's out of his gourd on the other 15%, which this RKBA stuff falls into. Some of his stuff on economics is also wacky.

Well, just wanted to comment before the moderators throw this into Legal....

Although I'll admit that Fox has a different bias than CNN etc., one could almost make the case that Fox is anti-conservative in one respect. . . . .

What is that?

The "conservatives" on Fox, as many and as prominent as they are, are clowns. Sean Hannity? Colmes must be about 300x as smart. Even when Sean Hannity happens to be right on something, I still wince at how he backs it up (usually through ranting and lying).

Bill O'Reilly is basically Mr. "righteous indignation". He's basically an ecomarxist as well, the guy is more authoritarian than conservative. He's conservative only through (occasional) opposition to porn - he takes the worst of "liberal" and conservative and puts them in one ranting package.

How do people like these two get rich?

Anyhow, even though they call themselves conservatives, they're just New York elitists.

Be wary.

I sent an email. He seems to think that owning a bazooka is legal. I pointed out that he was misrepresenting and misinterpreting because he is ignorant of his facts.

I did not see this, and don't have cable so I probably won't, but I think an important thing when writing to him or anyone else is that we make sure that the correct subject is being discussed. I'm assuming that this discussion had something to do with the current ban on SAWs (semiautomatic assault weapons) and whether it should be extended or not. We need to use the correct names for things when responding to something like this.

The firearms which are banned by the law due to sunset next year are "semiautomatic" assault weapons and that is what their legal name is. Selective fire assault weapons would be correctly referred to as machine guns (Or NFA firearms if you want to get into that explanation). These two types of guns are two entirely different types of animals and that should be made clear. Of course by adding the correct things to a machine gun it could fall under the SAW law. Bazookas, etc... to the best of my knowledge would fall under the definition of "destructive devices" as given in the NFA. If the topic O'Reilly was discussing was the ban on SAWs then these NFA items don't even belong in the discussion or in the consideration of extending the ban.

O'Reilly might be ignorant of these things or he's just saying either what he believes or what he thinks will stir up controversy. From the little I've seen of him his main debating tool appears to be shouting his opponent down. I think that he, Hannity, and I'm sure others are trying to emulate Rush Limbaugh but don't have the finesse to pull it off. Rush is a good debater, these others are shrill self-righteous harpies. Happy holidays! Gary

slow e-mail response

Mus/Gary,

That is exactlly the reason I decided to wait until today to post an e-mail. I want it to be professional with the facts and not a flame. That would have zero chance of changing his opinion.

Does anybody know a link where the transcipts of this show can be found?
