I too am looking forward to your range report on this pup. Really curious to see how it performs.

I just ordered my own RIA today through Bud's. It's the Rock Ultra CS .45. Same size but with a more aggressive grip (I love the wood look, but wanted more friction) and a couple other "upgrades". We'll see if the upgrades are worth it, but I had the extra cash so I figured I better spend it before the wife started looking at new furniture.

Been drooling over these for a while and finally dropped the dime today.

I have this same pistol..love it, shot right in the black out of the case. Had to tweak the windage 2 clicks for my left eyeball...and it rides very nice on the hip as well! I am well pleased what RIA offers for the money, and the warranty to top it off.

I'm buying this to replace my Colt Defender which has been a problem child from the start. I have a suspicion that the aluminum frame made the recoil too lively causing frequent FTF and FTE. Never had limp-wristing problems with my larger, heavier 1911's, so I think the Defender was just too light for my grip (not sayin it was ALL the gun's fault, just that it didn't go well with my grip - or lack thereof). This RIA is all steel with a slightly longer barrel, which should add some heft and (hopefully) eliminate that problem.

Sorry to derail the thread with my whining.

Getting back on track: I like the simple, functional look of Doc8404's RIA and may pick up a full-size version someday as well.

Ordered one before Thanksgiving, shoulder surgery a week later, and picked mine up just before Christmas. Have not had a chance to shoot it. Finally to the point I can work the action without much discomfort.
Only changes I might make are an extended thumb safety and some more visible sights. Apart from that, I think it will make a great carry gun. As far as the sights go I might just add some white paint just to make it easier to get a sight picture.

I've been thinking of getting one of these 3.5" for the hell of it. Like to see a range report to see how it shoots & feels. Tempting.
CrabBoy, go ahead and pull the trigger on this one. I like mine. It is a heavy, tight gun that has no problem spitting out whatever I feed it. Trigger pull is smooth, crisp and seems consistent. It took me a bit to be comfortable with the smooth grips. Added a bit more pinkey-power to overcome the inherent muzzle jump. A 45 ACP through a short barrel...well I guess one should expect a bit of a jump. Eod4648 noted the blacked out sights. I did not have a problem with them. Reminded me of my service weapon. I bought this gun to use as one of my carry weapons, so the blacked out sights again are not a cause for my concern. This pistol and I work well together. At 15 yards I hit what I pointed it at, including pill bottle caps. I do not have anything negative to say about this pup. I like the: looks, handling, and the price of this gun. Aye, is riding on my hip at 3-30. Semper Fi,

I can't reach my outdoor range as it's drifted in with snow. Haven't had time to take it to the indoor range yet. But once I do, I'll post a report...
EOD, I hope that you enjoy yours as I enjoy mine.
