OK, Now I hear the Numrich AUTO-ORDNANCE CORP. 1911s are junk. BUT If I replace all the spings & firing pin with Willson Combat or Ed Brown parts, do you think that may correct the jamming & missfiring issues? I found AOC 1911 10mm for a lot less than an older Colt Delta Elite "which I would much rather preffer" Just can't afford one.
What is your feedback on the Numrich AOC

The one I bought in 1990 (a .45) needed a new barrel and extractor to be reliable enough not to toss in a deep lake. Before then it was literally a single-shot. The slide and frame also had a lot of tooling marks inside and out, and it felt like there was sand in it when the slide was racked. Having said that, yes they can be made to work but honestly you may end up sinking about as much money into it as a Delta Elite to begin with.

I opened up the bidding on an AOC 10mm not knowing Auto Ordnance belonged to another company before 1999 which have many problems. Sellers says I must complete auction or risk Negative feedback. I will take the negative feedback. I hardly work anymore because of injuries and back surgery. Can't afford to pay out 700 plus dollars on something that may end up as a paper weight. Plus it was meant for Hunting deer & protection from beer if needed.
Well thats that

problem is the ao may work or it may not. there are some pix in tisas thread that look pretty nice. no personal experience with them and feed back on cs seems ok. getting stuck with a non functional firearm with no cs and no return may be worse than some negative feed back. some hopefully helpful advice intended to be kind. next time i would do some research before bidding. if i want a particular firearm, i check out the firearm and the seller before bidding. best of luck with however you go forward.

$700 is WAY too much for a Numrich AO. The new ones don't even cost that much!

BTW I don't blame you for wanting something for protection against beer. They can be pretty aggressive sometimes...

Why don't you just wait and save up the money for a ....... Kimber Custom II TLE/RL II 10mm.
Colt Delta Elite cost about $1,400.

You can get a Kimber 10mm with more features - match grade barrel which is supported for 10mm, match grade trigger, and light rail. You can add a magwell later. You can find these for about $1,040 and up from various retailers. I've owned both and the Kimber is the better gun and better value.

Here is a pic of my Kimber 10mm before I sold it to a good friend. He loved it. Unfortunately he passed away last year. I sold it because I moved up the quality ladder to my DW 10mm 1911's. I'd recommend them, but, their twice the price of the Kimber. But, they're better than any Colt or Kimber.

I remember the sprawling 8-10pg Numrich Gun Parts ads in Shotgun News when they used to sell brand new Auto-Ordnance ''Gunsmith Special" frames that had 'dimensional issues' for less than half price.

What do you expect in something from NY with the initials AOC?!?!?😏

Ah the good ole days of the Shotgun News, subscribed for years and years , had stacks of them. Had to throw them all out for a move.

Yup, one of my fondest childhood memories was sitting on the crapper each day reading copies of Shotgun News.

It's mainly for when I'm out in the woods or hunting. Beers walk by our stands and ground blinds so I figured on a 10mm But now I'm thinkings 45acp =p ammo. I doo have a COLT MKIV & THEATER OF OPPS COMMEMERATIVE nickle plated. Ruger gave me a 50% off anything I wanted so a SR1911 COMMANDER is on its way. that shall be my huning sidearm. Also I will purchase a KIMBER CUSTOM LW for everyday carry.

You have "beers" walking by your stands and ground blinds? Sounds dangerous. What kind? Coors, Schlitz, or Pabst Blue Ribbon? Sorry, I realized it's just a typo, but, I just couldn't resist.

I have three 10mm 1911's. One of them is my EDC, a stainless steel Dan Wesson Specialist Commander. If I were to carry a pistol as a backup to a high powered rifle (.308 or larger) or a shotgun (12 ga with slugs) as a bear country firearm, I'd prefer my S&W model 657 .41 magnum. No way I'd trust a 10mm (full power 10mm is all I carry for two legged dangerous predators) or a .45 ACP as a backup to a long gun. And no way I'd only carry a pistol if I was expecting bears. Unless, I was expecting the bear to invite me to dinner with me as his entree. A pistol would just be a back up gun to my long gun.

Good luck with those "beers." ;)

lol Thanks for the laugh. I should have stated the back up is to a crossbow. I'm just going to use 45acp +P ammo instead. NICE Revolver
