I am a new member, but I have benefited from the great info on this forum for a long time. I finally got around to registering.

I am thinking about picking up a current production Auto-Ordnance "Thompson M1 Semi-Auto Carbine". This looks like the WWII style with the cocking handle on the side. Apparently there are mil spec 30rd stick mags to be had relatively cheaply.

Anybody have experince with this firearm in it's current production config? I am interested in reliability, quality of workmanship, and especially any interactions with AutoOrd's customer service if problems arise.

Thanks for any help.

I would recommend searching in the long gun forum. I have a friend who owns a recent (Kahr) Thompson, and he loves it. Has absolutely no problems with it whatsoever.

col132,

Thanks for the reply. I may repost over on long guns.

I found one thread almost exactly like mine on the long guns forum, and the only specific response was from a member who did not think too much of the overall shooting qualities of this firearm in its current form.

I need to find somebody with one and give it a test fire.
