I read somewhere (maybe here but can't find it) that shooting 230s through a short barrel will eventually damage the weapon. I've been looking for the best range ammo ... haven't even shot my New Agent yet!

I don't think I've ever heard that one before, and I think I would need to see some proof or atleast the word of a few people that I absolutly trust regarding 1911's before I would believe it.

230 grain is a classic harball bullet weight.

I'd say shoot away.....

Why would you buy a .45 and not shoot 230 grain ammo. in it???
