I bought a new defender Thursday and took it to the range for the first time today. I've been looking for one for a bit and suddenly this week my dealer had a new one and a used one in stock. The used one had Novack sights and the speed bump grip safety. I picked the new one because the smooth grip safety fit my smallish hands better. After shooting this gun all I can say is WOW. I was amazed at the accuracy and ease of shooting. I think I have a new favorite Colt. Thanks to all of you who made previous postings in which you provided information that helped me make my decision.

Congrat, Excellent Choice.

I have been a dyed in the wool Commander fan for many years and the Defender has taken up some of that. Great gun, enjoy.

I also have a new model Defender with the blade sights and smaller beavertail. I didn't particularly like the grip safety and thought since it was a very concealable compact I would make it more so by installing a standard Commander grip safety,BIG MISTAKE,the smaller safety plays heck with the web of your hand . Otherwise a great gun. Rick

Please e-mail me with the name & number of the dealer with that older Defender. Also, please note the asking price.

Thanks!

I stopped by the gunshop tonight after work and the gun they told me was sold Friday was laying in the case for sale.

Its at Larry's Guns in Olympia, WA
Price is $599.95

This is a Defender with the Novacks and the speedbump grip. Looks like new to me but Larry says it has had a few rounds through it. Good gun with box

If you guys keep it up with the tiny 1911s. I will be forced to shoot my Officer S80 NIB from 1998. I just looked at the box was the Enhanced produced as early as 1995? That is the only possible date I can get on year. 5/24 is the only definate date year unknown. This little baby I love like a family member. So should I save or shoot? Its all blue and serial#FA038xxE. I'm thinking 1995 because below the 5/24 is 95 all in ink. Any help appreciated.
