A one-hole group @15 yards - that's nothing to complain about!

My take on the little imperfections in this 1911 is that it is hand made; anything hand made by humans is going to have slight imperfections.

My Springfield Armory TRP Operator has absolutely flawless, perfect frontstrap checkering - that was cut by a machine, not a master 1911 'smith. If you want, I'll trade you...:biglaugh:

I just read through all of these posts anc comments. Every last work and period.

The way I see it is that FFdave had expectations for the item he purchased that exceeded what was delivered. Unrealistic or not, he surely has the right to request that the manufacturer respond to his inquiry and expect that such requests be met with professionalism and concern.

It is then a matter of finding common ground where FFDave feels satisfied and the manufacturer feels that he has done everything to satisfy his customer. FFDave appears to be a reasonable yet detail oriented professional person. I find nothing wrong with his position nor the manner in which he has presented his case.

I do however take some issue with folks announcing that they are reconsidering their orders because of these "minor" cosmetic issues. Not every customer can be satisfied, we all have differing levels of expectations and detail. To me the off center punch is not an issue nor is the irregular checkering. Actually I kind of like the uniqness of it, the hand made artist, the custom look.

The key to any company is it's sense of urgency, dedication to customer satisfaction and attention to detail. That is all one can resonably ask. There are however people that are unreasonable and cannot be satisfied under any circumstances and those that just troll these forums to jump on the bandwagon of publicly bashing whomever todays target is.

In my view, Wilson is a premium quality product at a premium price point. There are full customs, semi customs, and production 1911's. The choice is up to the customer based upon his financial ability and his personal needs and desires.

I am sure that FFDave and Wilson will both be able to find common ground and walk away satisfied.

I checked through every photo I could find of any 1911 out there, thumbed through Wilson Combat's color catalog and this show through is apparent in about 50% of the guns I've seen. Granted, this is probably the smoothest 1911 thumb safety I've tried, some feel that this should not be visible in a custom gun.

Dave.
I also have a 1911 gun that I purchased from another known manufacturer that I paid a bit over 2K. Functioned perfectly. Didn't bother checking the entire gun for cosmetics until today after reading this. My 1911 also have this hole. You won't even see it unless you really look for it.

Good, fast, cheap-pick any two.

PS-you will be sorry you ordered trigger guard checkering in the long run.
Why would he be sorry that he did that?

Even if he ends up not needing it, it's not like it hurts having it there.

I guess I'm missing something...

Wow, one of the most outstanding reviews of a 1911 that I've ever seen. I'm extremely happy with my CQB, so much that I'm considering selling my Springfield TRP and get another Wilson. My TRP just doesn't feel right after shooting my CQB.
