Police in the state of Northrhine Westphalia will replace older bullets in October due to the penetration power of the old bullets, which can pass through bodies and emerge on the other side to hurt someone uninvolved. The new bullets have a yellow plastic point on that moves back during impact so that the bullet becomes lodged and can't hurt anybody else.

Any news of US imports? Sounds like a Ballistic tip type like winchester has for rifle game hunting.

No. Pistol caliber hollowpoints are not legal in Germany. I don't know if there is a police exception but even if there is, apparently it was too much of a political hot potato. Earlier low-penetration bullets such as the BAT and its competitors were not used much if any.
Looks awful similar to the Cor-Bon plastic ball tipped bullet.

or the Nolster Ballistic tip. Old idea, new application. Funny how they want the same performance of a HP, but in a clean cut pc package. I suppose its the "nicer" way to shoot an assailant.
