Welcome to the forum. I have two commander sized 1911s, a Colt Lightweight Commander and an all steel Ruger SR1911. Both are great. Obviously the Colt is lighter for every day carry, but I'm a far old guy, so the added weight of the Ruger does not cause a problem. If you have the chance, check out a Ruger of a less costly option. The quality is there.
