THAT is a fine piece of work, sir. You have skills. S&W sight in a High power slide? Oh Hail yes.........
No idea. The HP came out of an auction house in Cincinnati, OH, but I have no info on it. The installation is well executed, so the smith knew what he was doing. I have never seen a front sight installed so far forward and cut into the bushing. That is really the only identifying feature. I was hoping perhaps someone on the forum might have seen similar examples and possibly know who the smith might have been.Nice any idea who did the sight work?
Thanks, but I can't take credit for the sights, they were already installed when I bought the HP. I straightened the trigger and bobbed and undercut the spur hammer, plus changed out most of the internals. Took the kink out of the sear spring per Austin Behlert. Trigger is nice about 4.5 lbs, but I need to get to the range and try it out.You did a great job on the P-35, interesting what you did to the trigger, how does it work? Don Williams built me a Hi-Power, used C&S parts in the fire control group and lock work, it's got an insane trigger on it...C&S parts are superb.
The S&W revolver sights are sweet, the front sight is unique for sure, but nicely done! You have some serious skills Todd! =)
Good point longarm.Might even be from someone he hired/trained. Still well done.
Post a pic of the rear sight install. There might be some tells there. After doing some web image searches I came across one Hi Power with a similar front sight installation. It was on a Jim Hoag (slide signed) Hi Power on Guns International. It also appears the top of the slide is also matte blue like as is my Hi Power.
Even if Jim Hoag did the sight installations, of course that does not make it a Jim Hoag custom, just a slide with custom sights. So perhaps, maybe, possibly it was Jim Hoag who installed the sights, but that possibility is pure speculation/conjecture. But, it is the closest I found.

Here are a couple of details on the rear sight. The install has the rear of the sight fully inset into the slide rather than an open back (such as many (not all) Behlert S&W sights). The few Hoag Hi Powers I have seen have the sight fully inset into the slide, like my example. There is a slight curve or radius at the rear of the cut, which is similar to some of the Hoag installs I have seen. The rear of the cut is also very close to the back edge of the slide, which is also consistent with some Hoag sight installs. But, others could be doing the same, and as longarm mentions, the sights could have been installed someone trained or who worked for Hoag.Post a pic of the rear sight install. There might be some tells there.
Thanks Rellascout. Your detailed images of Hoag rear sight installation are excellent. I agree, very similar. That said, probably best I can do is say in the style of or manner of Hoag, and that would only be for the sights, not a custom build with his additional recognized enhancements. Here are pick of the 2 Hoags I have. The hard chrome is 100% his. The newer one is 90% a Hoag. Install of the sight is similar.
