I went to my shop looking for a 5" shooter today.

Dealer brought me a barely used Classic Custom with a Ed Brown Bushing, Ed Brown ambi safety, Ed Brown 1 piece FLGR, shockbuff, Ed Brown extended tactical big button slide release, Hogue double diamond grips, SS hex grip screws. Price was very cheap and I bought it immediately. It also runs great, just like every other Kimber Ive shot.

I want to get the frontstrap checkered 30 LPI and Im thinking of sending it to Kimber for the work.

My question: Anyone have any experienced with the Kimber Custom shop on requests like this? If so, how is their quality & turnaround?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of great custom shops out there that can do this. the links page has a line to many of them. Make sure the kimber shop is what you want. I do think they would be happy to do the work. sorry, I know this is not what you asked but I thought I would throw in the idea at least.
good luck!

You really might want to consider trying to find somebody who could do that for you locally. The Kimber shop might do fine work, but you also get saddled with $30+ shipping each way that makes the cost of checkering start to become unreasonable and it won't be too cheap anyway. If you find a local person, ask to see some examples of their work. Good checkering looks great. Bad checkering looks like crap. The differnece between good and bad is not always very great. In other words, it is easy for checkering to turn out not as good as you would have liked.
