Just got on in trade that is NIB unfired. Original handling (not firing) trials out of the box indicate the slide doesn't lock back on an empty mag (three different mags tried) and in fact the slide lock is extremely difficult to hand engage.

This is the first RIA I have owned so I wanted to check if this may just be a break in issue, in need of a good cleaning and lubing, or other issue. This is going to be a project gun so I've got no big issues doing work on it just need some advice on where to start. If the slide lock needs replacing suggestions of the best way to go...back to Amscor or look for aftermarket parts.

Thanks in advance for comments and insight.

Welcome to the forum jfred1, try the pistol, if you have problems send it in, or they may send you a new slide lock.

Yes, sounds like a slide lock issue to me as well.
Is this your only 1911? If not, try your mag with other 1911, and see
Also, you can try slide stop from that in your RIA as well

Or just call them, and they'll send you a new slide stop or tag to send your gun back
