I picked up a new in the box Model 27-6 yesterday. There's a light drag line but there's no evidence of it ever being fired. This gun is sweet! I paid $600 out the door. Was that a fair price? Can anyone tell me the age of serial number BSK43xx ?

Not a great price ,but a fair price. It should be a great shooter. I have owned 2 an early Model 27 with pinned barrel and recessed chamber, had a really sweet trigger, and I had a Model 627, I worked the action over on it, it really turned out nice, you'd cock the hammer and think fire and it would break like snapping a glass rod. SWEEEET. The Model 27 Series truely is the Caddy of N frame S&W. Ever tried a N frame in 41 mag? It's the best kept secret in large bore wheel guns.IMHO. Does everything a 44mag will but with less recoil.

My buddy has an N frame in 41 mag. I've handled it but never shot it. I'm anxious to take the 27 and my Python to the range for a comparison.

Thanks Den. I thought a blue gun would be easier to photograph than a stainless or nickel one but I haven't been able to get the lighting right yet. I'll work on it.
