Hi guys, I am finally one of you. I just got mu Kimber Compact in stainless. I have been wanting a 1911 style for a long time, just could not decide which one to get. Then this deal came along so I jumped. The only problem is too much information and the "I wants". I have decided I will just shoot the gun for a while before doing anything to it,besides changing the rubber grips to some Rosewood that I have already done.
My biggest question is this: I did not get the take-down tool for some reason, is there something like an allen wrench that I can use instead, or how can you find one of these things. I e-mailed Kimber when I ordered the grips, but they did not respond to the tool issue. They did send the grips. Any way this may sound trivial, but if you don't know......
I am sure I will have many more questions and enjoy the information that is recieved here.
Thanks

bend a paperclip in the shape of the takedown pin.

Just make sure that its long enough to catch the other end of the plug on the other side of the guide rod and short enough so it doesnt scratch or rub anything on the dustcover.
