Let start with the 1911A1, the first 50 are in process now, slight delay, making modifications to front sight hieght. These first 50 will not be available for public sale. the first run of 500 is scheduled for May that is when we expect the new boxes to come in, they will be packaged in the old style craft cardboard box. One thing to note, the current intent is to only build this gun for a year or so, will not be around forever. When these are in production, we will back off of building the standard 1991A1.

Change in finish, just last week I received approval to change the total sanblast finish of the 1991A1 government length carbon and stainless models. The new finish will be a polished finish on the side of the slide, the receiver will continue to total sandblast finish.

At the Shot Show we told everyone that we would be coning out with the Python in the Spring, followed by the Annaconda mid year and the Magnum Carry at the end of the year. Due parts availability, and listening to what people want, the following will take place. Limited quantities of Annaconda's will start to be produced in June and July, not to exceed 1000 units. The Python will begin production in August to the tune of less than 100 per month, right now only in 6" stainless. This is the gun that sells the best if other models are desired the company needs the info on preference from the public.

The Magnum Carry has been tabled for the time being. Instead we will come back with one model of the 380, I believe it will be the Pocketlite model.

Guys, new prices are a little steep, cost to manufacture in a union shop in CT is not cheap and we need to maintain a decent margin in order to stay healthy. Look at it this way in 1969 you could buy a new car for around $3500 and a new Python for two or three hundred bucks, now a new car will run you more than 20k. And a new Python will run you about 1K. So keep things in perspective.

Thanks Mark, good to hear that Colt is going to keep making the Python.

So for one year only. There goes my $550 used hope. Probably more like $1500 to $2000 second hand. I am going after one now. And DSK, Nevada is closed for the new 1911A1 sale.

Nevada won't allow the new 1911A1? Gee, I never thought of Nevada as being a Liberal encampment before.

You have to be unknowing of the weapon in general. And have many questions of Colt in general. I have been practicing and the first question will be, Why does it have the horse on it, was it made to resemble a Ford mustang?

Just one man's opinion on the finish on M1991A1s. I prefer the all-matte look of the carbon M1991A1, but on the stainless I felt the heavy sandblast was detrimental. I'm not the only one who tried to polish the slide and frame flats, and ran into trouble because the finish was so heavily matted that polishing it out would wipe off the serial number and rollmarkings.

My suggestion would be to leave the carbon 91A1 as is, and either do the polish on STS 91A1s or else simply use a finer grit when sandblasting them. If you polish the carbon 91A1's slide you might as well polish the frame too and revert back to making pre-Enhanced MK IV Government Models.

Why on earth would NV be closed to the 1911A1 sale? That sounds ridiculous to me.

In regards: " One thing to note, the current intent is to only build this gun for a year or so, will not be around forever."

That's a good company marketing line. What would you like to bet that they'll keep making them if we keep buying?

I'm kinda new to this board but I would like to say that I will not pass up the opportunity to buy a genuine Colt Goverment Model again. I'm so glad to hear that they are going to be available again!

Howdy,

I too am interested in knowing if the 1911A1 will be available for sale in California.

Now, this is the one without the firing pin safety, right?

When you first mentioned the new pistol, I seem to remember you thinking it may sell for $900.00 or so...

I would love to provide info. To whom do I send the letter?

My personal opinion is that the Royal Blue Python Elite is what people want. Stainless is great and all, but the Royal Blue finish was absolutely outstanding, probably the finest factory blue job on a handgun I've ever seen. I also think more people would buy the Python than the Anaconda, so why make the Anacondas first?

Thanks-
BB

Love to see a LW Commander in blue. Also a little dehorning would be nice. Don't go overboard like those guys in Yonkers.
