About the only maintenance required is to wipe the surface dirt off the dots when you clean the gun.

I usually twirl the end of a Q-Tip on the dots to remove any accumulated soot, oil, etc.

They don't require a lot of special attention or so many would not have been sold because a lot of us are not meticulous in our cleaning. Wiping them off with a dry rag after cleaning (or using a swab like previously stated) is all they should need.
