Maybe not "News" for most, but it makes sense for me and I've decided it's news for me.

I've come to the conclusion that buying new guns is off the table until the democrats have lost the presidency for 2020, the house and the senate.
Why?
1. Because I have more guns than can fit into my safe now. 2. Because at the rate things are going the socialists will end up confiscating them all and destroying them anyway. and 3. Because we HAVE to stop them!

My typical process is to save money until I have enough to buy the next purdy gun I want to own, but various pro-second amendment groups need that money, and the end results are potentially more satisfying than a nice 1916 P08 or a new 1911 assembly kit.
As a lifetime NRA member I honestly feel they have let us down too many times, because someone should have screamed bloody murder in 1967-'68, but CGA 68 got past the NRA, as did the 80's AWB. I don't want to go on against the NRA because someday they too will understand that far too much "Negotiation" has gotten the camel's nose under the tent.

My money is going to The Firearms Policy Coalition. My next gun, that money! And maybe I'll send half to Gun Owners of America. This should be far more effective than preaching to the choir, or should I say sobbing to the choir? I've been pouring cash into the re-election of President Donald Trump from household funds, because if the nutcases get the presidency our lives will scarcely be worth living.

I hope also to inspire others to sacrifice while a sacrifice has a chance to help keep our Constitution.
quit buying all your guns at a store..

M Yaworski, so you're just turning your guns in and taking up stamp collecting - or knitting - instead? What are you doing here?

When it gets to actual confiscation, the other side has at that point declared War on the Constitution and the Rights of Man and is no longer a legal government under Constitutional Authority - each participant in the confiscation is violating his Oath of Office and is acting illegally - no matter what laws they pass, nothing trumps the Constitution, period. This is never about controlling Crime - it's about Controlling American Citizens "for their own protection". Right. Ask yourself, at what point would you be willing to stand up and say something?

With your attitude, the Founders would have never founded anything - they would have meekly surrendered to the mighty British Crown - and Freedom - here and in the rest of the World - would have never happened. Kings and Emperors would still rule, everywhere.

The Second Amendment is the "Reset Button" on the Constitution - the Founders understood that, fully. If tyrants seriously reach for that Right with concrete Action, they are only doing that so they can take all the other Rights, too.

Remember your history? Lexington and Concord happened precisely because the King sent his soldiers to take the guns of English Citizens. EXACTLY the same scenario. You do realize that there are many MILLIONS more gun owners than government enforcers to take them on, right? Tyranny can only win if we let it. But it takes the will to resist - peacefully through voting is my preferred method, but what if that is not enough? Just give up on Freedom? We must all consider this carefully - it will affect everything. Once lost, Freedom takes blood to regain.

When the Government has decided to use Force on citizens that will not comply with an unconstitutional Law they are no longer acting within The Law - they are outside of it.
When that happens a Public Relations Campaign will no longer be relevant - it will be war. Votes won't matter any more (some say they don't, now). Winning or losing will be the result of using raw Force to settle the issue.

The choice we each face is, do you want to die on your feet, or slowly, on your knees? Does Freedom end so you can watch Football in peace and turn your head the other way as Evil takes over and rounds up the real Patriots? These are the Questions we all have to ask - and answer - for ourselves and our posterity. And it appears, for now, that decision time is going to be forced upon us - unless we get busy and educate our fellow citizens. CC
I only have one thing to say. AMEN !!! I will never under any circumstances surrender my firearms...

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking:
What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?
Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?...
The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!
If... if...

We didn't love freedom enough.
And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation....
We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

Additionally we also know that a number of people survived it. A good number of these survivors have been interviewed over the years. More often than not they are asked why they did not leave while they still could. Almost invariably the answer given is that they did not think that it was going to get that bad.

Something to consider going forward.

This has been an interesting trainwreck of a thread.
I hoped people would agree with me that giving to those fighting legal battles for our rights is THE logical step in our fight at this time, and for me that means giving up something else I want because at least two other financial duties are of higher priority for my family.
What's not logical is blurting out how many LEO's one is going to kill when they come SOMEDAY for our guns. Another ill-considered step is whining amongst ourselves as we all do, though it is comforting to share our losses, but it is not effective in educating people who are obviously poorly educated by our vaunted public (AND private!) education systems.

I explained how idiotic burying guns is, at least at this point to discuss it is as it is foreshadowing a time when we can't shoot out in the open or even allow anyone to know we have guns.
In short, my point was that we had better start doing whatever is effective in the proper steps NOW, even when it hurts, because kids growing up now may never have the option of owning even a pellet gun.

Think of what it takes to own a pellet gun in England today, then think of your grandson or daughter remembering all grandpa's guns and how much joy they brought him, yet only through great sacrifices of effort will they be able to go through all the hoops necessary to buy and shoot that pellet gun, someday in our near future!

To me it seems a bit selfish to even keep all my best pieces when the money their sale might earn could help shoot down another moronic law! At this point supporting legal means is the only logical step I can see now. Maybe tomorrow I'll have to bury my guns.

I've opposed those people all my life, and it's they who should not enjoy nice things, I've worked hard to buy the guns I own. On the other hand I have at least 50 now, would having 60 guns compared to suddenly learning that our gun rights had been secured by a landmark legal judgment?

There is another logical step some folks could take, some way of educating people dumbed down into near unconsciousness by the boob tube into a revelation of the geniuses who formed this country, how beautiful their writings and eloquently they argued for our rights for every contingency their eyes could see.

I'm sure many of us have come to the conclusion that allowing without response some half wit to state arrogantly that we don't need guns is wrong, so wrong that risking friendships is justifiable. And some may even think about how best to answer such times in ways that may even get the fat heads to think better.

There has to be a way to win people's minds over to such admirable thoughts as those left us in the Constitution.

Wow! Moral clarity here in 2020 in an America that cherishes moral relativism. Who'd a' thunk it?

Col Colt and others here, thank you!

In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
Judges 21:25

This is what those who support leftest causes want for this nation, whether they be politicians, media, or voters. They desire Godlessness so they can do whatever they want to do without suffering any retribution of moral judgement. Thing is, they want to do it to you!

partsproduction, you are on to something! Yes, we all need to contribute financially, and I am setting aside a manageable sum of money to contribute to the "area of greatest need" as things develop. Much better to build organizations and change minds in the Legislature than to have to contemplate the unthinkable. I hope everyone here understands that a peaceful resolution based on combined strength and reason is the answer - if it comes to violence everyone has failed!

And You are so right about educating the public (starting with those closest to us) about the beauty and majesty of the Founders writings and logic - based on sound principles that Never Change. Time for all of us to dust off our copies of the Constitution - and the Bible, and start remembering why this all matters. As a 2nd Amendment Source, I recommend The Second Amendment Primer - you will find the brilliance you are speaking of in many Great American's words there.

James R., those are sobering words everyone in America should read - and understand - "It CAN happen to You!" CC

PS - Thanks for all the appreciation, it gladdens the heart, but it humbles me, too. I wish I had all the Right words to turn some of these well meaning but not understanding Souls back to the Light!
I like to think all the study I have done - and continue doing - may yet serve some higher purpose. Let's keep talking about our wonderful Founders and their Documents - that made the World a much more free Place. CC

Thanks for the clarity of your words Co. Colt, I wish I had your eloquence.

Game day is that day when we all realize how badly things have gotten in our Nation, that we really are in danger of losing all that the Founder's laid their lives on the line for.

Looking back it seems clear to me that Americans since that time never understood the reasoning behind the second amendment, else things would have "Hotted up" several times in the past, and they should have!
It is not unAmerican to threaten violence as payment for treasonous actions IMO, not idle threats, but threats backed by planning, threats by a strong center, not by individuals.
I agree with Col.Colt, by every means avoid violence until it is demanded by the Constitution, our fight against tyranny is not optional, it is called for by the Founders! We owe them to preserve our Nation as recipients of such a grand design! Thus far and no farther or our country dies! It will never get more serious than it is right now!

Just so you know: NSSF: The estimated total number of firearms in civilian possession from 1986-2018 is*422.9 million, according to data reported in the ATF’s Firearms Commerce Report in the United States 2019 report and including the preliminary 2018 Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Exportation Report (AFMER) figures.

An estimated*8.1 billion rounds, of all calibers and gauges, were produced in 2018 for the U.S. market.

Sorry my friend, I'm here to tell ya that we will not be changing anybody's mind. You see, I've recently gained a window into the left via an old friend I found on Facebook. She's a millennial, like me, and a hard core lefty socialist. Over the last two months I've exploited this window all I could, and have come up with some profound conclusions and two incredible ironies. I'll spare you the details, but suffice it to say, they are completely lost as human beings. It's not that they can't think, they don't want to think. They don't care if they're wrong. Nothing you say or do is going to change their mind about anything. Period. Believe me, I've tried.

Unbelievably, she still hasn't blocked me yet. But yesterday I officially closed my investigation. She's still my friend, I guess. But she will be given no quarter on the battlefield.

As soon as I can arrange my thoughts in an orderly way I'll write an essay or something on the subject. Doubt anybody's going to want to read it, but what I found is absolutely shocking. It's far worse than we thought.

I see the same thing especially with people under 30. Their entire life they have been subjected to the Leftist perspective. They have been indoctrinated from the cradle by media, education, and entertainment and it's all they know. They are dyed in the wool. Now they are ready to act.

Absolutely, and the hate is like nothing I've ever experienced before. I was really taken back by that part because I've heard the word hate a lot and thought I knew what I meant. I was wrong. Believe me, they hate you, They genuinely hate you. In the literal sense of the word and taken to it's maximum meaning.

And the reasons why they hate you are so incredibly ironic it almost can't be real. But it is real.
