Hi people. I'm stating with the customization of a Norinco 1911A1 sport. I want to change many parts, but I doubt with the sights.

I want to put something like this as a rear sight
http://www.brownells.com/handgun-pa...s/bm-1-standard-sku100002632-23101-49255.aspx

and something like this as a front sight
http://www.brownells.com/handgun-pa...-fits-colt-1911-sku662000036-22811-48634.aspx

but I don't know if these sights fits on my pistol. I did not know if for the width and height of the front sight, both sights are compatible, or are a good combination. But I want a fiber sight forward and a sight that look like the sight of the link for rear.

Anybody know the dovetails dimensions for front an rear on this pistol?.

Thanks.

Fitting that rear sight will require the slide being milled. It looks to be a copy of the ubiquitous BoMar sight.

And the Norc slides are extremely hard, requiring the use of a carbide cutter, lots of coolant/lube and most of all - PATIENCE.

Send it to a gunsmith
Of course these sights will fit your pistol, but you will have to mill the slide first. Here is my set up:

Cut a dovetail and install the Fiber optic

Deluxe mill for the BoMar clone:

Yes, I know that the slide has being milled. I have the correct people for this job, but, are you sure that the dovetail fits on my gun? What about the front sight?
Thanks

The pistol already have a dovetail cut for the front sight. But I need to know if the sight of the link have the correct size for the gun cut. Remember that the gun is a 1911a1 SPORT.

But, in the Product site not include measures for the sight, at the gun manual not include measures of the gun, the importer does not respond, either from Norinco. I figured many of you would have done this upgrade on this pistol.

The only true way to find the dimensions of the dovetails, is to have them measured before you order the sights.

The Bomar dovetail demensions can be found. It is one of the more difficult dovetails to machine. The old dovetail will need to be completely machined over for the cut.

The front sight you linked to is a Novak so it requires a 65X .330 dovetail.

We can not get Norinco products imported into the US so many of the more informed members won't know much about what front dovetail you have. Hopefully someone from outside the US will be able to answer your question better.

When most of us think Norinco 1911, we think of the GI clone. I doubt any US members have ever or will see the 1911A1 Sport. The GI version would be easier for you to do what you want to do because the slide would be like a blank canvas.
