In my first post I was asking opinions about purchasing an officers XS, was gone when I went to put the down payment on it. Went to another gun shop yesterday and saw a Pony Pocketlite. I'm thinking it would be a nice addition to my Colt collection ( only 1 in the stable as of now), but also used as a pocket gun. The only drawback is the trigger pull. It seems as if it starts out as a 9# pull and goes to a 12# before it releases the hammer. Anyone have any experience in tuning one of these up? BTW, they're asking $560, a bit high, but no longer made.

If it were me I'd pass. A much better choice would be a Colt Mustang Pocketlite, if you can find one. The Pony is one of many double action guns with a poorly-designed ignition system, resulting in a trigger pull so hard it's hard to keep the gun on target.

Just my opinion, but another option for you might be a Kahr P9 or P40. Those are well thought-out designs, and in fact it's Kahr's barrel lug design patent that Colt infringed on when they created the Pony!

If you already have one small automatic. That is plenty, get a full size or a Cowboy. Much more shooter inviting and good mechanics too. A small auto is just so limited in its usefulness.

If you're used to the single action, definetly go for a Mustang if you can find it. Not sure if they still plan on reintroducing them or not.

The Kahr's are copies of the glock action, and for size, the officers is just as good. We've had too many problems with Kahr's (feeding and failure to lock slide) so we don't carry them.
The lawsuit is a farce, if you compare the recoil lug, it's obvious that any similarities are coincidental. Kahr's "offset recoil lug" isn't even different enough to earn a patent IMO.
Heck, I had my Hi-Power apart, and the recoil lug has a slightly shaved lug.
But, that's just my opinion, I don't like Kahr very much anymore.

Nice, reliable little gun. I don't think you are going to do much about the trigger pull. You can smooth it out but you can't lighten it up much without affecting ignition. You can get used to it, given enough practice, but I'd vote Mustang if you have a choice.

Thanks everyone. I bought a cowboy gun last night instead. Got a great deal on a used Ruger Bisley Vaquero. Guy shot only 18 rounds and sold it. Got it through a gun shop for $325. Now I'm going to start scoping out that Mustang pocketlite everyone was telling me about! Man! This is addictive, I'm going to need a bigger safe real soon.
