I'm getting ready to pimp out a cheap 1911 clone to make it more shootable (a High Standard if you'd really like to make fun of me :) ) - and am a big fan of Fiber-Optic front sights so wanting to replace the stock sights with something that direction.

Novak seems to have some good options at http://www.novaksights.com/novak_fiber_optic_sights.htm - my question is "what slide machining is required?"

I know that the item description at Brownells says that machining instructions are included, but would like to make sure I order the dovetail I need for the front and rear since I only have a .300 x 60 degree dovetail cutter onhand at the moment.

Am leaning towards a green fiber for the front, but then a "plain black" wide notch rear. Any opinions appreciated!

Thanks, specialblend - I *swear* I looked at the Novak site, but couldn't find it.

Much appreciated!
