i have a colt series 70 steel commander that has a satin nickle finish. i would like to have a black t finish put on it. can they take the satin finish off just like removing the bluing from a blued pistol? Thanx for any info.

Different process, but yes, it can be removed. Probably cost a little more to do, as you can't just bead blast it off like blueing.

Brownell's sells a compound called "Room Temperature Nickel Stripper - strips all types of nickel plating without heating or agitation". $34.29. See it on page 177.

Thanks for the info...I have several 1911 model pistols that are stainless or teflon coated but I really like the look of the Black-T finish. So I made up my mind to do some serious work on this Colt Combat Commander 70 Series.....I can hardly wait to get started.
