Far right is an original Ranger in .45

Thanks, Scott. That is a f_i_n_e , fine herd you have there. That Ranger is a beauty. Is it your carry piece? Shoot it much? Details?

The STI/ Skinnergram (#119) says that a smaller version of the Escort is set for Jan release. Maybe I'll go that route, but I really want that longer slide of the ranger and the abbreviated grip.
I hope to own one and add the T.A.S. that STI offers.
I appreciate the picture.

Thank you for the kind words.

I used to carry it quite often. It's been reliable with 230 ball and Rem GS. Didn't seem to like gold dots though. I've put about 3,000 through it, and other than the Gold Dots, it has run without a single hitch (I bought it used and already broken in). The only thing I've done to it was install an ambi safety (I'm a southpaw). Other than that, it's factory stock.

It is a sporty little shooter. I wouldn't say painful, but as compared with a commander, it's snappy.

It's now my Florida summer -need to hide well- carry.

I'm sure it hides well with that grip length. Again, a sweet looking pistol, Scott. I've never had a problem concealing barrel length, it's just that pesky 1911 full length grip that is a bit of a protrusion issue.

The Ranger strikes me as near perfection for a viable, daily carry, tiny 1911 in .45. I wouldn't mind an aluminum frame version, either. I practice long and hard with the steel guns. Short drill(5 magazines) with the LWs for familiarity.

Recoil is likely very similar to the Detonics CM. I don't miss that particular firearm, but I do miss that short grip. The Ranger appears to be a more refined piece of ordnance.
