I am a Glock owner, but have recently acquired a liking to some of the 1911 style pistols being offered. One especially is the Para Ord Covert Carry in the black finish. I was browsing at the shop the other day and handled one. I have to have one. It was one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever held.

I am aware of the 6+1 capacity, but that does not concern me as I have a G36 (same cap). My question is about its reliability for such a small gun with many small parts. Can someone help a new comer to the 1911?

I found the Para LDA action to be very reliable and the pistols well made. I am currently looking for a new, old stock Para Companion (with beavertail and visible hammer). Companion holds 7+1.

If you intend to carry it, though, I'd opt for the stainless steel finish. The finish on my Para LTC looks like it's been carried a lot! The black finish on my former Para CCW never looked other than new.
