I have a chance to get a used but well maintained older Para GI expert for a steal.
I am interested in it for a carry build.
I would Like to hear some opinions on Para.

I know they are not forged. Would it be worth spending the time and money fitting and buying good parts for a build?

The one Para Ordnance GI Expert I worked on has good fit and finish for a cheaper pistol. I believe the extractor is either cast or MIM, judging by the massive mold lines. It has a very nice trigger pull. The barrel/bushing fit was nice and tight. The barrel is properly throated. Overall, it is a decent shooter, but I don't know about long-term reliability/longevity of the Para pistols. It only chokes on widemouth, truncated cone hollowpoints.

I do not know what a "steal" price would be in your neck of the woods, but because you refer to it as GI Expert, it is not the older Para Ordinance. The GI expert sells new for about $600.00 with tax around here, if that helps your decision.

I most likely hagle my way down to $300 for it.
