Can anyone confirm or deny that Para is no longer making .40 magazine in black finishes(POM40R). And that all new mags are now nickel finished.

I was told this by a store but I'm a little suspicious that it's because they didn't have them in stock.

I just received two P16, 16 round mags in the mail today. Both are blue and both are crap. They won't lock into the mag well without some serious force. They hardly ever lock the slide back on an empty magazine. When the slide does lock back, it releases when I drop the empty magazine and goes back into battery. The follower binds up in magazine body during loading. My stainless mag that came with the gun appears to be of a much higher quality. I know they're new, but give me a break, so is the gun. Does anyone have any suggestions before I fire off a letter to PO and gripe?

FL Shooter,

Para confirmed that all new 10 rounds mags are now nickel finished.

See: http://www.1911forum.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/000351.html

Did you buy these high caps from Para directly?

As a matter of fact, I just picked up another 2 mags Monday night. My dealer is the main distributor for Para in Canada. He had me take my P16.40 Limited out to test the mags before selling it to me. He told me that some of these cast mags don't fit very well. So he tries to have all his customers try them first before buying.

I would suggest you drop a line at info[email protected] They have always been very prompt with their replies to me.

My mags were purchased with the coupon that accompanies a new firearm. When I sent my check, I sent it directly to PO via the address supplied by them. As far as contact with PO. My last ten E-mails went unanswered. I was inquiring about night sights for the P16-40 Limited. I have since found my answer elsewhere, probably somewhere within the 1911 Forum.
