Does temperature affect how powder performs? I want to work up a new load but the temperature swings lately have been somewhat dramatic and has me hesitant. These are loads I'd like to use coming summer.
Some powders show increased pressure and/or velocity in warm weather; some do the same in the cold.
Some act differently based on which caliber or gun is utilized.
General wisdom suggests higher pressures as temperature increases, and perhaps concomitant velocity increases, too.
Testing is absolutely required.
(I test from the hottest days -- 90F+ -- to the coldest days -- -20F --.)
