A friend of mine just got a Colt that he believes is a pre series 70 from 1917 but the barrel is rollmarked series 70 MK IV no other rollmarks on the gun mention series 70.

Do you think it could be a hybrid?

If it is from 1917 it is just a 1911, no other designations. The barrel could have been replaced with a newer one. Check the serial number on the frame. Colt 1911s from this era had a C pefix if they were sold on the commercial market. Military 1911s would have U.S. Property stamped on the frame.

This one is military property, the barrell must have been replaced it also has Wilson sites. What would the approx. value be on something like that say it is 80%

Thats hard to say without seeing the modifications. Was the slide modified for the Wilson sights? Is the frame or slide modified in any way? With the mods I would not pay more than $500.
