Pre Series 80 Finish

Do any of you folks know what the original finish on a Colt Combat Commander with a serial number starting with 70sc might of been? When I purchased the pistol it had a Hardchrome finish. This is definitely a pre-80 pistol. What type of blueing was common during the period this pistol was manufactured. Thanks, Ray Rinehart

More than likely a polish blue almost black in appearance.
It could have ben either satin nickel or blued. The bluing back then was quite nice, a royal blue with polished flats and matte rounds. The blue was definitely more "blue-like" back then than it is now, which is black.
